Casein is a concentrated milk protein, which occurs during cheese making and converts to a morphine-like chemical called beta-casomorphine 7 after digestion. Interestingly enough the chemical that is produced naturally seems to encourage calves as well as human babies to crave milk so they are more likely to nurse.
