A Wonderful Experience…..

I was recently invited, along with several other members of the Fort Hamilton Fitness Center, to take part in a lecture focusing on resilience.

We were invited to speak by Lieutenant Colonel Davis who is head of the New York City recruiting battalion. The main purpose of this lecture was to give 300 enlisted men and women the incentive to take advantage of all the diverse services being offered to them at the Fitness Center which include nutritional counseling, yoga, reiki, chiropractic care and fitness training in a state of the art facility located on the base.

The speakers included:  -Bilqis Benu (Yoga and Chief Coordinator of the Fitness Center)                 -Joe Baudille (Chiropractor)                    -Ellen Savarese (Reiki Practitioner)                        -Lenny Variano (Holistic Nutritionist)

Garlic, potent in many ways…

So many of us include garlic into our daily cooking. We all love how garlic and olive oil compliment each other. But how many of us really know how beneficial this root vegetable is. Garlic has been used for centuries in treatment of parasites, respiratory problems and for poor digestion. Modern research has shown that use of garlic may in turn reduce blood pressure. It can also encourage delivery of nutrients to muscles via the circulatory system. An important advantage for those of us who are extremely active or interested in preserving muscle mass as we age. However it also has a very potent after effect so make sure you always have a good supply of mints.
